渣漿泵泵軸穿出泵殼時，在軸與殼之間存在著間隙，如不采取措施，間隙處就會有泄漏。當間隙處的液體壓力大于大氣壓力(如單吸式離心泵)時，泵殼內(nèi)的高壓水就會通過此間隙向外大量泄漏;當間隙處的液體壓力為真空(如雙吸式離心泵)時，則大氣就會從間隙處漏人泵內(nèi)，從而降低泵的吸水性能。為此，需在軸與殼之間的間隙處設(shè)置密封裝置，稱之為軸封。目前，應(yīng)用較多的軸封裝置有填料密封、機械密封。
When the slurry pump shaft passes through the pump casing, there is a gap between the shaft and the casing. If no measures are taken, there will be leakage at the gap. When the liquid pressure at the gap is greater than atmospheric pressure (such as a single suction centrifugal pump), the high-pressure water inside the pump casing will leak a large amount outward through this gap; When the liquid pressure at the gap is vacuum (such as a double suction centrifugal pump), the atmosphere will leak into the pump from the gap, thereby reducing the pump's suction performance. To achieve this, a sealing device called a shaft seal needs to be installed at the gap between the shaft and the shell. At present, the commonly used shaft sealing devices include packing seals and mechanical seals.
